Living in outside India, we need to learn much caution.
This is a true incident happened in NY.
A boy from south India came to NY by family immigration sponsored by his uncle. He came after his 10th grade exam. Living in uncle's house. After few days in US, he played ball with some kids in the street. Ball strayed into somebody's garden. He went to pick the ball, and then he thought about taking permission from the house owner. He didn't ring the bell, just went inside the house, where he find a girl sitting in a sofa. She is a teenager alone in her home at that time. As soon as she saw this dark colored boy, she screamed and ran outside the house. He saw she is screaming, he also ran outside. All these sound make the neighbors attention and some one call 911 and police arrested this boy for attempted rape. He served 6 months in prison. Rape charge is rejected with a plea bargain for trespassing, all because he is minor 15 years old.
So need to change the behavior with socializing in this country.
Well just to get away a bit from the complications of immigration!
Either the victim (who lost jwelery) has some animosity to you/family/your sister or your sister by her actions has given him/her reason to suspect her for the lost jwelery. Maybe your sister might have been a frequent visitor to that house? Or the jwelery was lost immediately after your sisters visit? First identify what prompted this accusation and then tackle it. Ofcourse consult a good attorney.
Even if the person acuses your sister, she is inocent until proven guilty and unless there is sufficient evidence there is no way your sister will be convicted by any judge/jury.
Lesson to learn; Don't get tooooooooo close to anybody. Helping is good but even with your relatives you have keep a certain distance and respect their privacy and territory. Indians tend to overlook this and often asume that they can enter into other people's lives, think for them and act for them. Its ok in India but once you are here things change quite a bit.......:o:o

I am on eb2 and the application is in Nebreska service center...3 weeks back or so they got a RFE, do not know what the RFE is about yet ....!!

I think h my filing (or was it receipt date) was oct 24, 2006.

what is your online status after RFE. Does online status change to "RFE" from "Received and pending" once we get RFE. My employer dont tell me much about my I140 status or RFE but I have receipt number. I can check online

Thx a lot. I was so scared abt tht. I already have a job luckily my previous employer dind't cancel my H1 so used it and joined in a new firm
But these people started sendin' mails and callin' me so was jst scared will i have to loose tht money for nuthin' as well movin' from PHX to NY coseted me almost like $15000 more over tension in findin' a new job i was totally screwed for the past 2 months...

The following message from murhy forum over 3 years ago is still true. Correct? I cannot mail the renewed parole to my wife if she stays beyond the expiry of current parole.

You cannot return to the US with an Advance Parole (AP) that was approved
while you were gone. You must have the AP in hand when you leave the US if
you want to use that AP to return. Therefore, you cannot travel with just
the AP receipt number.
As per this message your wife should come back US on Old Unexpired AP.

I already finished 14month 8days and still pending in NSC

Remember I-140 is owned by your employer. If you quit the job your greencard process will start from PERM again with your new employer.

How do you distinguish between junk and not junk? It is holiday season and some families and students travel to India during this time. Some might get time to browse the net and some might not. If someone visits this forum they will be well informed about travel conditions back home and this was my only intention but I think you have an agenda here. It looks like a case of misunderstanding. Did you explain why you had the change of heart?. Explain your personal situation -like you are explaining here- with the pregnancy and commute time and doctors visits that are required every week?. I am not sure why a sane person wont understand the reasons why you decided not to join them. Further, if they do not understand, ask them if they have filed paperwork for H1?. If NO, then what is the claim of $3000 for?

One of my friends got fired from a company and the company made him to sign a document that he was resigning. This guy somehow signed it so that he could get his salary. The employer eventually paid him the salary after signing the resignation document.
Few questions about his H1B visa.
1. How many days can he legally stay in the US before he finds one more job gets new H1B.
2. Can he transfer his H1B visa to a new company or does he need to apply for a new H1B visa (which is within the cap)?
3. Incase if he doesn't find a job within the legally permitted time, what are his options apart from going back?
4. Will he have any problem when he tries to transfer his H1B after the legally permitted time?
I would really appreciate if anyone can please help me with this questions.

You are very correct. For them immigration issue means, family based greencard system. They will be happy if EB greencard is eliminated so that all greencards are given to their families.
My friend contacted such organization and they said that they will help us by putting our issue on their website. For that I should ask IV to contribute to their cause. They refused to contribute anything or do anything for IV. They said that by putting IV's name on their site, they are doing us a favor by enhancing our profile and that is a big help. I am now repulsed by such ABCDs.
This is so much in contrast to hispanic orgs or Irish orgs or jewish orgs who care for their people.
yes, our community is divided. The main reason is, all these years, majority people used short cuts methods or got lucky or effortlessly immigrated and jumped to the other side. Things were not so tough for them as compared to us and we are competitive. They hate us for being competitive so they influence the law makers and the results is obvious EB green card is 10% and FB system is bringing in 60%. They take advantage of the the H1b system to live on us and influence the policies making it tougher.
We are better off not seeking their help, but if people think otherwise, go for it. A lot of these organizations are formed for convinience and self interest and they really do not have any interest in the community as a whole.
Take example of ATA and TANA. ATA is called American telugu Association and TANA is called Telugu association of North America. They say ATA is for Reddys and TANA is for Khammas.
Look at the Gujjus. They are strongly bound their community only. Look at all the Tamil sangams, Kannada Sangams, ......
